NEW monitored CCTV cameras have been installed in Colwyn Bay.

Conwy County Borough Council, in partnership with West Conwy Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Bay of Colwyn Town Council, secured funding from the UK Safer Streets Fund for the new camera which aim to offer public reassurance through 24-hour monitoring.

They will be used to gather evidence and target incidents including serious crime, criminal damage, anti-social behaviour, graffiti, littering, dog fouling and fly tipping.

Councillor Geoff Stewart, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Environment & Neighbourhood said: "Our partnership approach and the innovation from our Community Safety and Public Protection CCTV teams is proving a vital part of Conwy’s commitment and drive to ensure residents and visitors across the County are safe and feel safe.”

Peter Brown, Head of Regulatory Services at Conwy County Borough Council, said: “The continuing support of County Councillors and Town Councils in supporting CCTV projects, and maintaining and updating the public space cameras, is key in preventing and detecting crime and anti-social behaviour while providing reassurance to our communities”.
